masters thesis - ucd tape collection preservation Project
housed on the campus at the unviversity of colorado - Denver is a collection of magnetic tape recordings. the purpose of this thesis project was to create an accessible inventory of the recordings (types of tape, content, etc.), create a digitization prioritization plan, digitize any related tapes and restore any recordings with izotope rx, and create a deliverable set of digital files for longterm digitial preservation.
Below you can find the link to the omeka webpage for the ucd tape collection which houses a catalog of the entire collection held by the school. for this catalog i created all the related metadata categories and performed all cataloging and data entry operations.

For this project I also digitized 10 tapes that were all related to jazz recordings performed either by local denver musicians, student musicians, or student performance groups such as the ucd claim jumpers. samples of those recordings can be found in the omeka catalog. the recordings are limited to 30 seconds or less to comply with copywright and fairuse rules, copyright of those recordings is maintained by the original creators.
if you wish to access the full recordings of the tapes you can contact either the core at the college of arts and media, university of colorado - denver.
